Happy July from Catholic Utah! Please read the following to find out what's happening in Catholic Utah!

Upcoming Events Planned by Catholic Utah:

Thank you for a successful Catholic Utah Picnic
Thank you to everyone who joined us at the end of June for our Catholic Utah picnic! We had about 200 people gathered for food and fellowship with other Catholics. It was so wonderful to see people connecting from all over the diocese! We also want to again thank our raffle sponsors--Magdalene Religious Goods, Patrick Madrid, John Gile, Trent Horn, and Jon Leonetti for their generous donations! We made enough with our raffle to cover the deposit for a future speaker! We look forward to hosting a similar event next summer and thank you all for your encouragement and support of this new ministry!

Catholic Utah bookclub for mid-20's to mid-50's "in-between" Adults
Whether you are interested in joining us once a year, or for every meeting, email Gracie at gepalomb@gmail.com if you would like to be on the email list for the Catholic Utah bookclub! We look forward to gathering in October (date TBD) to discuss our next book--Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. "C.S. Lewis is the ideal persuader for the half-convinced, for the good man who would like to be a Christian but finds his intellect getting in the way." -Anthony Burgess, New York Times Book Review.

Book Recommendation
Bishop Robert Barron recently released a book called Letter to a Suffering Church. It is a brief, but well-written and meaningful, letter and we would encourage all to read it during this challenging time of the sexual abuse crisis in our Catholic Church. If anyone is interested in donating copies to your parish, Bible study group, or family, they are only $1 each if you order 20 or more copies. Click here to order. It is available in Spanish and English.

Theology Uncorked on Friday, November 8 with Jon Leonetti!
Our next Theology Uncorked for our "in-between" adults in their mid-20's to mid-50's will take place on Friday, November 8th. Save the date!

Large Community Event on Saturday, November 9 with Jon Leonetti!
Our next large community event OPEN TO ALL will be in the morning on Saturday, November 9th. Catholic author, speaker, and radio host, Jon Leonetti, will be speaking at this event. Save the date!

Other Catholic Events We've Heard About:

St. Mary's Feast of the Assumption Procession, Mass, and Fiesta:
9:00am on Sunday, August 11--Process from St. Mary's Old Town Chapel (oldest Catholic Church in Utah) down the streets of Historic Old Town Park City, through the beautiful trails and meadow beside Highway 224 to St. Mary's main Church on White Pine Canyon Road with Fr. Christopher Gray and the St. Mary's Parish as they celebrate the Catholic Faith and our Patron St. Mary of the Assumption. All parishioners, newcomers, visitors, friends of St. Mary’s and Catholics across Utah and beyond are invited. The procession will end with a special bi-lingual Mass, followed by a fiesta at St. Mary's Social Hall and Patio. Please visit StMarysParkCity.com for more details.

Holy Hour at the Carmelite Monastery:
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, the Rosary, a Homily, and Benediction takes place at 3pm on the 3rd Sunday of each month at the Carmelite Monastery in Holladay. The next dates for this Holy Hour are August 18, September 22, October 20, November 17, and December 15. Some "in-between" adults have started attending this regularly and encourage others to join them! This is OPEN TO ALL!

Carmelite Fair and 'Run for the Nuns' 5k:
Sunday, September 15, 11am to 5pm. Come together with Catholics from around the diocese for this really fun fair that includes good food, games for kids, auctions, and a 5k that starts at 8am. There is also a golf outing planned for September 22nd! Shuttles are available for parking areas nearby. To find out more and register for the 5k or golf tournament, click here.

"The Weekly Way of Christ Talk and Meal" at St Mary's in Park City:
Every Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:30pm, (excluding holidays, etc.), join St. Mary's in Park City for faith, food, and fellowship! Each week, Fr. Gray will lead an invigorating discussion on one of the foundational aspects of the Catholic Faith, followed by a fun and informal potluck meal. All are welcome! Bring friends and consider sharing a snack, dish, or refreshment. The Way of Christ weekly series is perfect for those first discovering Catholicism; for cradle Catholics seeking a refresher on the faith; for converts, teenagers, or young adults wishing to deepen their faith; and new parishioners seeking to learn more about the St. Mary's community. This is an ongoing initiative and each week will be unique. Prior attendance isn't required. Come when you can! Email kbeeler@stmarysparkcity.com for more info.
